Gator Jim’s was actually born about 25 years ago when Jim Bickel decided if he had to work, he might as well do something he loved. Being an avid fisherman he thought selling fishing tackle to others who had the same passion for the sport was just the ticket. He was successful from the start. After a couple of different locations and a couple different names, Gator Jim’s and St. Pete Beach have proven to be the perfect match.
In addition to all the typical products, you’ll find a treasure chest of “deals”. Gator Jim’s also specializes in buying closeouts, bankruptcies, overstocks and anything else where he can get low low prices to pass on to the customer.
It’s not at all unusual to hear customers comment things like, “I love this store”, I wish we had a place like this where I live”, “this is my favorite tackle shop” and how do you sell everything so cheap?”
Gator Jim’s is a fun place to shop. Be sure to bring your camera. There’s a 12 foot alligator that you can sit on and a 5 foot tall standing gator. Don’t worry, they can’t move. (too fast, anyway) You can also take your picture holding our life like shark
